Who We Are

Women’s health should be a primary concern in today’s era, with women as active & productive outside as they are within their households. We at Bharat ki Beti foundation are working on the most vital aspects of women’s health – Menstrual Hygiene & Health, Mental Health, Nutrition Education and Financial Literacy & Inclusion of Women.

In our country, As per National Family Health Survey, 2015-2016 estimates that of the 336 million menstruating women in India about 121 million (roughly 36%) women are using sanitary napkins, locally or commercially produced, which leads to living a life with poor menstrual hygiene and health issues. Mental health is generally a taboo subject in our society & the mental health of women is a much-ignored area requiring concerted efforts towards awareness & counselling.

What We Do

Mental Health Awareness

At Bharat ki Beti Foundation we are creating awareness and combating mental health issues among the women.
BKB organises

  • Campaigns, events, and workshops like “Man ki Baat Man Se” and more in schools, colleges, and corporates to raise awareness on the importance of mental wellness.
  • It is working with various organizations like Gurudakshina (voluntary group working for mental health support), Pink Army (a group promoted by the Indore Police department)
  • BKBF offers an anonymous peer-to-peer support system that provides a safe space for people to open up about their issues. Our motto is to make mental health accessible to all.

Project Gulabi – Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness

One menstrual cup lasts for five years or more, whereas a sanitary napkin takes forever to decompose. A menstrual cup is good for both the menstruating person and the environment.  We at BKBF are:

  • Promoting the use of menstrual cups by organising awareness at all levels.
  • Distributing free menstrual cups to the underprivileged by raising funds.
  • DIY eco-friendly sanitary pad making workshop.
  • Nutrition counselling and 1 to 1.
  • Mental health counselling and 1 to 1.
  • Financial literacy sessions for girls.
  • Sessions on “Prevention and management of cardiovascular disease in females”.
  • Health check-up camp.

Swayam Initiative (DIY Sanitary Napkins)

The OTC sanitary napkins are not biodegradable. Hand-made cloth napkins are environmental -friendly.  We educate women to make DIY cloth sanitary napkins that are reuseable and bio-degradable through our sanitary napkin making workshops.

Aanchal Program

India is among the world’s five largest emerging economies where investment in breastfeeding is significantly low resulting in an annual economic loss of $14 billion due to child deaths and cognitive losses caused by poor breastfeeding practices, says a report.

In India, less than 50% of children are breastfed within an hour of birth, whereas the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months stood at 55%. Early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding can prevent nearly 99,499 deaths of children every year due to diarrhoea and pneumonia.

Project Aanchal aims at creating better hygiene for lactating mothers and highlighting the importance and benefits of breastfeeding.

Empowering Women, Saving the Planet: Our Cloth Bag Livelihood Program

At BKBF, we believe in creating meaningful change by empowering underprivileged women and championing environmental sustainability. Our Cloth Bag Livelihood Program is a testament to this commitment.

Empowering Women, Transforming Lives:

Through this initiative, we engage underprivileged women in their homes, providing them with sewing machines and materials sourced from used cloth like old sarees and bed sheets. These women skillfully craft reusable bags and are compensated based on their production. This opportunity not only uplifts their financial status but also instills confidence and independence.

Environmental Impact:

By repurposing discarded cloth and steering clear of plastic, our program champions eco-friendly practices. Each bag made contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions by eliminating the need for single-use plastic bags and reducing the demand for new cloth production.

Join Us in Making a Difference:

We invite you to be a part of this sustainable movement. Support our cause by choosing these eco-friendly cloth bags, thereby contributing to a greener planet and empowering these women to create a better future for themselves and their communities.

Together, we can empower women, support livelihoods, and protect our planet—one cloth bag at a time.

Take action today, for a better tomorrow
